Khachaturian, Aram - Sabre Dance from "Gayaneh" - Violin and Piano - transcribed by Jascha Heifetz - Edition Sikorski
Today, the Sabre Dance is almost certainly Aram Khachaturian's most famous work, featured frequently in popular media, from TV shows like The Simpsons to sporting event broadcasts. Originally, it was a movement from Khachaturian's ballet Gayane, in which Armenian dancers performed a dizzying routine with swords. The energy of the dance has made it a popular concert piece, both in its original iteration for orchestra, and in the many, often virtuosic, arrangements that have been made for other instruments. This edition for violin and piano is transcribed by Jascha Heifetz. Published by Edition Sikorski. Difficulty: A6
